Hi,
I am in Oz using my daughter's PC. She is having trouble with disk space. She has W-XP, and the Restore is set at 6%, however when I checked her 16gb hard disk, I found that 12gb was used by "system volume information", I cleared it down with disc clean up - it starting expanding again within days. I tried switching off System restore and switching it on again - in case some sort of corruption had occurred , then setting it at 6% again. The file is still getting bigger , i spoke to first line support at Microsoft (Oz) he suggested setting the file compress facility on System restore - that had no immediate effect = he said it should have compressed what had already been set- I believe he was wrong - either way it had no immediate effect.
Any bright ideas how I can resolve this problem please?
Cheers,
Peter - PS returning to UK next Saturday(now Monday)

Excellent tip from Ed Bott today on tweaking the Windows System Restore feature. System Restore is great but I feel that it needs reining in from defaults. Ed’s tweaked values are much better - mine are slightly different in that I only ...
