Ed: My comment has nothing to do with today’s tip (although I did implement it – thanks). You might want to read this article, which covers a similar topic to one you mentioned here several months ago. It concerns Microsoft One Care, which the article describes as a paid security service that Microsoft may offer to protect its own products.

A better solution is to use FinePrint. FinePrint is a print "driver" that intercepts print jobs and allows you to print 2-up, 4-up, etc. jobs. It also allows you to easily delete pages from the job (like those near-blank last pages from printing a website). When you're all set, you send the job to any Windows printer.

I've had this utlity in my arsenal and I use it every single day. I've certainly saved a tree or two with it.

Good tip, Ed. And Dave, I've used FinePrint to save not just trees, but myself a small fortune in printing costs by printing 2 or more sheets per page. It's a fantastic app, and helpful for printing long web pages, ebooks, etc.

Dave, I'm a big fan of FinePrint and have used it for years. (Click the Software link at the top of the main page to see this and other apps I use.) Only reason I don't mention it here is the cost. At $50 a copy it's too pricey for many people!
