Seen any good Vista tips lately?
Chapter 1 of Windows Vista Well-Connected is about tips, tweaks, and tune-ups. There’s never any shortage of Windows advice on the Internet,
I’ve run across some interesting collections of Windows Vista tips lately. I’d like your feedback on which of the individual tips within these collections you found most interesting or intriguing. Sheesh, how did I miss that?!
Ed, one of my favorite Vista tips is in your new book (which I got this weekend). It was the new keyboard shortcuts for items in the Quick Launch bar. Way cool.
And no, I don’t generally trust Vista or XP tips that I find on the Internet. I have been running Vista for a week now and it is running great without the benefit of a single Internet tip. Besides, I need to know much more about Vista than I do right now before I can even begin thinking about evaluating these tips. That will come in time, but not yet.

How To clear the Past Items or Icons list in the TaskBar (Vista ONly)
Some times When you check your TasKbar properties or when you
hide or unhide icons you can see old icons from Uninstalled or old programs you dont have anymore.
This Tweak will help you how to get rid of this problem.
How To clear the Past Items or Icons list in the TaskBar, perform the
following steps:
1.Open Regedit Navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify
2.Delete the IconStreams and PastIconsStream values
3.Open Task Manager, click the Processes tab, click Explorer.exe , and then
click End Process .
4.In Task Manager, click File , click New Task , type explorer , and then click OK .

Does this qualify as a Vista tip or a Microsoft mess up?
I just saw a bunch of great tips in Vista: Inside Out.
I’m eager to see if ReadyBoost works as claimed. Seen the tip, but haven’t read anyone who claimed it noticeably improved performance.
Also, who do I have to kill to get an autographed copy of Vista Inside/Out?
Zaine, you don’t have to kill anyone. But you might have to kidnap the UPS driver so you can track down my author copies, which have still not arrived.
