Harrumph. No Longhorn beta invite?

Bink and Neowin say Longhorn beta testing has started. The PC Doctor even passes along links to lots of Longhorn screenshots.

Still no sign of my invite. What’s up with that?

Maybe its because you’ve been criticizing Microsoft policy so much lately? Ordinary folks there might appreciate the openness but I bet the managers hate it.

They’re only demo-ing this to their best beta customers – which I take to mean Gold Partners, MVPs… Only those who toe the line will be allowed in this beta.

On another note, congratulations on getting linked by Scoble, The Register and a very visible Slashdot post all in one day, and for different blog entries!

I don’t think so, John. Microsoft is a big company, and I’ve been criticizing specific policies for years while praising those that deserve praise. I have good relationships with the Longhorn team and they know they can count on me for honest feedback.

Unless something has changed dramatically, the criteria for being included in a Windows beta don’t include sucking up. But hey, maybe the rules have changed.
