Chris Lanier has the scoop on Media Center Edition 2005 Rollup 2:
- Free Download from Windows Update
- Available in about 1 month
- 2nd HD Tuner supported
- No CableCARD
- No QAM
- DVD Changer (No other public information)
- Xbox 360 Extender support
- Sonic DVD Burning fixes
- Slight improvements in Media Library performance
A month? And the “no QAM” detail sounds odd, given that the current MCE already does QAM. Update: My mistake. There’s QAM-compatible hardware that also works with MCE, but within MCE it only supports over-the-air HDTV. To record unencrypted QAM over cable, you need to use different software. Confusing, isn;t it?
I think the list is missing a couple of features. I did hear about fast resume from standbye and a couple of other things.
So maybe there is more to it?
When it is released you will hear all the details on my podcast
I purchased last May (2005) a HP Media Center that came with MS Media Center 2005.
Questions: Should I upgrade to rollup2? if so, should I contact HP support center to get the rollup or is the one that is going to be available do?
Thanks.
